The shelf is nice, but the weight capacity is listed as 40 lbs. However, I’ve noticed the shelves “bowing” with less than 40lbs worth of books on them (I even took the books off to weigh them to confirm). Assembly was easy, but there is a bit of an ugly seam where the two pieces comprising the vertical edge of the frame meet, which is front and center of the assembled bookcase.. Sarah. Finished product looks good at first glance, but upon further inspection you can tell the materials and build quality aren't that great. The soldering isn't done very well and some of the pieces don't line up perfectly. The same joints also aren't very strong as one of the flat pieces broke off the frame simply from it's own weight while in the processing of assembling (the instructions tell you to lay it flat on the ground like my picture). Fits my purpose to store glasses by my basement bar, but plan on 1-2 hours of assembly time (and I'm a professional engineer!). It has many many fasteners required for assembly with some are in awkward points to access. They recommend and I agree, DO NOT use a power drill or driver with these fasteners. It looks nice, but there are some things to note, this is why I rated 3 stars. First thing The assembly instructions are terrible, none of the screws are identified correctly in the instructions sheet. To help others, I’ve marked up the sheet so you know what screws go where. Also, the back of the cabinet is where the wood strip is. It would have been helpful for the instructions to indicate that. Second I knew this going into it, It’s not real walnut, more a particle board painted(), but it looks quite nice and can pass for real wood. Third the cost is frankly too high for what you get. If it was half the cost, that would be more in line with the value. All that said, they are sturdy and look really nice. I do not regret the purchase at all, it’s just on the pricey side and the instructions were super frustrating.
